Primary Day in SC and 3 things to be thankful for Jan 21, 2012

Photobucket

Well, it is primary day here in SC. It will be interesting to see what the outcome will be. In this primary both dems and republicans can vote. Which means dems can vote for the candidate they think will loose against Obama! Weird, eh?

So first I am thankful for the freedom to vote and for the interesting debates we have had.

Secondly I am thankful for pink carnations--what a joy to have some in the house during the winter .  I placed some in the tea cup shown in picture number one above... and have those on my desk---such a treat.

Then I have some in this cool pottery piece---you can put 1 flower or many--just have to make sure to check the water level. I love hand made pottery, don't you?

Lastly, I am thankful for the wine cup below. Unfortunately we had two which we had given each other for Christmas and one was broken during an exciting movie (It was an Agatha Christie movie ).  NOOOOOOOOO , It was not I who broke it. So as a result, it is I  (me, myself) that claims the right to drink from the one remaining one!  I love it because I love pottery--this one is hand made.  Next trip to Saluda, NC I will have to see if there are any more!

  1. Hi there Nannykim,
I love pink carnations too and yours look especially sweet all snuggled together in that gorgeous teacup! Sorry about the wine cup. Hope you're having a splendid weekend.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  2. The pottery piece is wonderful Kim. I love the pink carnations.

I seem to remember you asked about the shelves in J's room. One of our painters is also a trim guy. He built the shelves on site, using MDF and trim pieces. He also did the columns, using MDF. He priced the pre-made shelving and found the MDF to be less expensive. The MDF works great for projects like the shelves and columns because they are in an area that is unlikely to have any water. We are so happy with the results of this young man's work.

  3. Yep, it should be very interesting in SC today. I didn't know that about the Dem voters! I learn something new each day! :)

  4. Hi Kim, I find that both parties are eligible to vote on primary day very interesting indeed. Never heard of that before. I love the pink carnation in the tea cup and on the table. I love carnation, love those ruffled edges. Next time you are in NC wave for me! I too love the pottery, although to be honest the only pottery I ever bought on a trip was a lovely rose colored water pitcher in Mountain View Arkansas. I have it in the kitchen as we speak. I like how the pottery wraps around the stem. I do hope you find more or similiar next time. Have a blessed Saturday.

  6. Your pink carnations are so, so beautiful!

Thank you for your comment on my blog about not keeping our old house we bought for retirement! I remember your Spindle Cottage and thought it was so cozy! You are right about making our life more simple and less complicated! Thank you again!
