My early Christmas gift

In our move to down size our home we went from 3 fireplaces to none. So for the past two years I have been missing the atmosphere of a fireplace. Well, we decided on this cheaper way of getting the atmosphere. Lowes is selling fireplaces. They come in gas and electric. We liked this electric one because you can use it without heat and the fire still looks real. Oddly enough you feel warmer just looking at it! Psychology!

Framed--note from 6 year old grand daughter

Photobucket

I love my grandkids (naturally!). I received this note from my 6 year old granddaughter and I just had to frame it. I think it is so precious. It is one of the first hand written notes from her---and it just makes me smile and warms my heart. For her birthday I gave  her one of the American dolls, Marie Grace. As a child I just soooooo loved my dolls and they meant so much to me , and to my imagination. They really helped form some of the ways I have thought and think about motherhood!   So I had wanted to give her one for quite some time. This was the opportunity.

Photobucket Below is a picture from her party---she is in blue with pink beads and holding a fan!

Thankful for rain

Photobucket

It was a cozy rain filled day. I was at home and it was wonderful to enjoy the grey day. I am thankful for the variety of weather. Our trees in the front are a brilliant orange---pretty against the gray --[not shown in this picture, however!]

I also love the coziness of a small table by a window. I love slow days.

Our family's old cottage destroyed

....
These are some pics of our family's old cottage on the Connecticut shore. We spent many weekends and vacations  here. The front of the cottage and the porch on the front and side were ripped off. The floor is gone.

I hadn't been there for years because I live in the South now. But that place is packed full of beautiful memories as a child! Memories are such wonderful things and I see the importance of building them!
