Well I am sitting and reading and comtemplating. I am reading more of the book on simple living that I mentioned in the post below. I am going to put a few (just a few) quotes that I like and that I am thinking about. I went to a memorial service today and am going to another tomorrow so it is a good day for thinking. Thus, this lady is speaking to me--ha, ha. Since I love aprons and teacups!! But really--Edith Shaeffer says the same thing---God's creation is glorious and our homes should reflect that---our homes should have part of His creation in it--ie plants, shells, rocks, fountains etc. He has created colors---we should use them---I could go on and on---but it needs to be orderly since He is a God of order. WEll---I'll be thinking some more!! (ps my spell check isn't working so please forgive any errors!)
I never thought about it terms of my home....but when I am planting in my garden.....or weeding.....or mulching....I feel like I am in "church". It is the best place for me to pray and "listen" :-)

I am so thankful you have a new bishop, too, our diocese, Fort Worth, prayed for you all while you were going through this long and painful process. We are thankful to be in the Diocese of Fort Worth. We took our first vote to leave TEC in November and will leave next November, sooner should "she" try to inhibit Bishop Iker.

Wow, I need to read this book!! You know, it's funny; the older I get, the more I KNOW this is what I need to do. My husband is older than I am, but he only pays lip-service to living more simply when it comes time to MOVE. :D He's a great collector of books he doesn't read - at least I read mine - and scraps of paper. LOL! What IS that, anyway???

I do love plants in my home...I had never thought of it in this way... but now I will...

ReplyDeleteIn my house are many rocks and stones from our farm fields. I just can't pass up an interesting rock. I make cairns.....stacks of stones, here and there.
Feathers are another item I like to find and display in the house.

It's great to know I'm aligned with this definition since He created dust and I have plenty of that in my home as well. It takes no effort all so I can't take any credit for it. It just seems to grow on the end tables and picture frames along the wall. Guests can even write their names in it so I can keep a list of who has been here and enjoyed the viewing of His creational touches in our home. Thank you, NannyKim. It's reassuring to know that 'dust' is no longer just another four letter word.
