Thomas a Kempis

Yes-I stole these pics from my daughter---these are of my grandbaby Rhianwen at the State Fair---priceless pics!! Thomas A Kempis wrote:
"Be thankful for the smallest blessing and you will deserve to receive greater. Value the least gifts no less than the greatest, and simple graces as especial favors. If you remember the dignity of the Giver, no gift will seem small or mean, for nothing can be valueless that is given by the most high God."
Amen to that!! Some things to be thankful for today:
a home (thinking of all those in Ca. that have had to flee theirs!),
a place to rest when sick!,
calls from friends,
the seasons to celebrate in the year,
family memories,
the joy of having children that have come from my womb ;-) ,
the joy of seeing children grow into adults,
the pleasures that simple gifts from God give--like the expression on Rhi's face seeing chicks,
leaves falling and swirling to the ground,
squirrels hanging upside down,
the patterns on a spider's back,
the U.S. and its diversity of families,
clouds and sunsets,
waking up in a cozy bed,
having my cat meow at me to get up,
clean litter box,
a tasty meal,
listening to the Bible being read online,
klove radio,
God's amazing grace,
dancing or feeling like dancing because of joy,
beautiful hymns--and songs--true gifts from God!!
God's people and all of their gifts,
the community of the saints (believers),
Birds, and all of their colors,
rocks and pebbles and their textures and colors,
roses blooming this late,
pyracantha (sp?) bushes and their bright orange berries,
chicken soup

  2. What darling pictures. She is so sweet!

I love all the things you are thankful for! It is so important to stop and smell the roses!

You asked about the Dawn soap to water ratio when killing bugs, it is 4-6 oz of Dawn to about 1 gal of water. One of my readers also mentioned that she bathes her cat in Dawn because it kills fleas! Amazing stuff!

    Have a super day! Sharon

  3. Off topic - but I wanted to respond to your question about flies and eating outside. We don't have a problem with flies, but lots of other bugs are usually an issue. Spring and Fall are the best times for us to eat outside and we try to choose a day with a slight breeze to keep them away. I'm sorry this isn't more help!
