This is a picture by Bill Stephens that hangs in our bedroom. It is one of the first things we see when we wake up and when we go to bed at night.
It has very special meaning to my husband and I. One weekend last spring we were on a Christian retreat. As my husband walked on the beach the Lord placed theses words in His mind: "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand." (John 10:27-28). These words really were impressed on his mind and then after his walk he went to the early morning chapel service and these same words were read!! It was like God was speaking directly to him and he realized as never before the importance of hearing and following
Christ. My husband had just gone through a very difficult year with prostate cancer and some other personal hardships.

I found this painting on line and spoke to the artist--he can do personal touches and he did my husbands initials on the sleeve (it doesn't show on this photo). Thank the Lord, for the way he can personally speak directly to our hearts and for the many ways he can do this! I praise God for the gifts of his people, also, for the way this artist captured something that is so dear to us!!
Beautiful! I love the lighting and the simple, wonderful lines!

Sorry 'bout your trouble finding where to comment. But, for me, it's fun to re-do the 'comment' word.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend. And thanks for the visit.
Lovely photo. :D
ReplyDeleteIsn't the Lord wonderful! Amazing story! I love the picture, it is a bit shocking to see the blood, but we need to always remember Christ's sacrifice for us because he loves us so much. I hope your husband is doing better. I'll say a prayer for him.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing! Sharon

Oh, that's just lovely. What a beautiful story!
ReplyDeleteI love that verse. It reminds me of a quote I happened to read in one of the Mitford books by Father Tim. He actually got it off the internet.
ReplyDeleteIt is a child's definition of love. The child says that "When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."
My name feels safe in Jesus' mouth.
Thanks for visiting my show and tell today . You asked about the tree skirt and how long it took me. It was a total of about 2 weeks. One day to cut out all the pieces, another to piece the top, then the rest of the time to quilt it by hand. And a day to do the binding.
Of course not all day ... ever ... too many distractions and disruptions.
It was fun though.
what a beautiful picture and a wonderful reminder!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful you see this each day as you go to sleep and wake up. Lovely story :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful afirmation from the Lord to your husband. Praying that God gives him steadfastness as he goes through his struggles. Blessings...
ReplyDeleteThat truly is a very special painting and I can imagine how touched your husband was when you gave it to him. Such a wonderful story behind it as well! xo

It's a beautiful picture and a lovely reminder of those verses. Isn't it so neat when the Lord does something so special that lets you know he was caring about you in particular?!
ReplyDeleteI posted about a special Good Shepherd print a few weeks ago here.

Nice picture - it's neat that the artist personalizes it for individuals. I enjoyed reading the story of your husband's walk on the beach and the bible verse that came to his mind. :)
ReplyDeletevery beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a touching story! Thank you for sharing the story and the picture.blessings on you today!
ReplyDeletethat was a wonderful show and tell... it is so special that the artist could personalize it for your husband, so that each time he looks at it, it brings back to him the feeling he initially felt when he felt the lord speaking to him!!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! The lamb is adorable. This picture certainly speaks a thousand words, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet testimony....we had a flock of sheep for many years and they were such a joy....I did a post about them earlier in the summer...
