More Thanks

As mentioned below in another post--I want to cultivate thankfulness---cultivate--practice it until it is just flowing out ;-). An Amazing thing happened this morning--the first thoughts upon waking were thankful!! Wow! The very first thoughts. As I have been reading other blogs, many of you have been expressing thanks for the first inklings of Fall weather. I have seen by your statements how refreshing this time of the year is--and I give thanks for times of refreshment from God and seasonal changes which work this refreshment into our hearts. The following hymn came to mind this morning and it expresses so much that we are thankful for!!

For the beauty of the earth
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies.
Lord of all, to Thee we raise,This our hymn of grateful praise.

For the beauty of each hour,
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flower,
Sun and moon, and stars of light.
Lord of all, to Thee we raise, This our hymn of grateful praise.

For the joy of ear and eye,
For the heart and mind’s delight,
For the mystic harmony
Linking sense to sound and sight.
Lord of all, to Thee we raise, This our hymn of grateful praise.

For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth and friends above,
For all gentle thoughts and mild.
Lord of all, to Thee we raise, This our hymn of grateful praise.

For each perfect gift of Thine,
To our race so freely given,
Graces human and divine,
Flowers of earth and buds of Heaven.
Lord of all, to Thee we raise, This our hymn of grateful praise."

So I am truly thankful for all of the above! (pic above from flickr djpic)

  1. The really cool thing about obedience in being thankful, is that God will reward us for what He has begun in our hearts. We can never out-give God.

    Love your Joy!

    A pleasure to meet you.

  2. Yup--and the more you give Him thanks the more your joy expands. Also if we are anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgivng let our requests be made known to God then his peace which passes all understanding guards are hearts and minds!! What a wonderful promise--but we must exercise thanksgiving. I checked your blog out---really good---but couldn't figure out how to log on--you may not return here, but if you do you will have to let me know how the ravi zacharius book was!!
