Fire and ICE

It is show and tell at Kelli's today--go to http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/ to participate. I love this cold invigorating weather we are having, especially because we don't often get it in SC where I live! The water has frozen in the outdoor fountain , but there is still a trickle (yesterday) --HOWEVER TODAY IT WAS FROZEN IN THE PIPING SINCE IT GOT TO 19 OR 20 DEGREES---I MAY HAVE TO GET A NEW PUMP!!
And here is the best part--being able to cuddle up with a fire , coffee, and blankies!

Here is the fire in our other living area--I love this gas stove and it really throws the heat!

Here is a close up of it

The other thing I love to do is throw in some warm red colors to give the feeling of warmth and cosy-ness-(not sure how long I can live with all of the red though--;-) ) Plus it is nice to eat in front of this fireplace

This eating area I had trouble with the decorations on the shelf yesterday if you look in a post below---I have finally got it decluttered enough to like it, I think!! Thanks for stopping by , and ya'll keep warm, ya hear!!!

  10. I just checked my comments. We must have been commenting at the same time! To answer your question, they were originally rugs. People would take old clothes, whatever scraps were available and hook rugs for the floor. Nowadays, they are also used as wallhanging, etc. This practice piece I'm working on? Who knows. It's about the size for a throw pillow form I have, but I don't know. Perhaps a chair cushion. I do plan to do a large rug.

  15. Oh, I absolutely *love* the white-painted fireplace in the eating area. It looks like something out of a children's book -- maybe an illustration by Eloise Wilkin. Simply beautiful! Thank you for sharing.

  17. Wow! Your home is so cute and cozy! You are so lucky to have two fire places plus a gas stove! Awesome! Are you taking pix with your new camera????

Something to do with your shelves that looks less cluttered is to have a couple of larger items like a big rectangular container with silk flowers in it, then just strategically place a few more items like a couple of books etc. and it is full, but doesn't look cluttered. I like what you have done though.

  21. Thank you for visiting my blog today and leaving a comment. I'm going to add you to my list of blogging friends if that is okay with you.

I just love your home. I love how open it is and yet it all looks so cozy.

I was glad to hear you say you like the cold weather. I like this kind of weather also but thought I was probably the only person living who likes the winter season. Now if we could just get a big snow then I'll be happy!

Please come back and visit me any time.
