Old gadget/ show and tell

It is show and Tell at Kelli's http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/

This is a wonderful old gadget I found 2 summers ago in an Antique shop in NC (Hendersonville, I believe). It works like a gem---you put the potato in and push the handle down and out pops the sliced potatoes.

If you bake them in the oven on parchment paper with your favorite spicy seasonings you don't even need oil!! It is one of my favorite snacks. They take about 20 minutes at 425-450 degrees. This is a wonderful time saving little gadget!! (However I always wonder about old gadgets--do they have lead??)

  1. My parents had a similar device when I was growing up...always a special treat when we'd have homemade fries. Hmmm kind of makes me wish I had some right about now.

  2. I wonder what compares to this gadget now a days? I would love to have one. With 7 of us it takes me a bit to get them all cut up nice and even.

  9. What a great gadget! You are fortunate to have found it.

I've scrolled back to catch up - LOVE the pictures of Myrtle Beach - you may remember we were there in October. Great memory!

  10. One more thing - I love mysteries, but for some reason never connected with Nancy Drew when I was a kid - I wonder why, since I read voraciously then, and still do now!

  11. That is a neat gadget. I just love homemade fries and in the oven... they are healthier.

I grew up in Hendersonville, NC. I still live 45 minutes away and care for my mom on Mondays so I go back each week. They still have neat shops downtown.

    Have a great weekend!

  13. I don't understand why all of a sudden my pictures don't enlarge when we click on them---if any one knows, let me know. Anyway, I am going to type up all those recipes and post them--a few people have asked for them:)

  14. Cool gadget. I love kitchen tools that speed things up. I bought an apple cutter that makes slices and takes the core out. It works great when you have a little toddler waiting for a slice of apple! Thank you for the Anniversary wishes. God bless you!
