Thankfulness and a book of one thousand gifts

I started reading the above book this week and it is wonderful. I recommend it to everyone. It speaks to me about living life to the fullest by fueling our joy. Looking at everything that we are thankful for and listing them naming them.

You can call making a list on these things--Naming God's gifts, naming grace moments, naming the ways he loves me etc!

Here is a quote:

"Do not disdain the small. The whole of life--even the hard--is made up of the minute parts, and if I miss the infinitesimals, I miss the whole. These are new language lessons, and I live them out. there is a way to live the big of giving thanks in all things. It is this: to give thanks in this one small thing...the moments add up.'

So my above picture represents one of those things. Enjoying a cool morning with windows open, the sound of a mower in the background (with fresh grass smells), the splashing of the distant fountain in the pond, sipping English tea while birds flit through the dappled sunlight. Ahhhhhhhh, just sweetness. I am very thankful for times of peacefulness and quiet!

Ps. check out the video in the post below for more of her way of thinking.

  1. How very, very important to learn to enjoy and appreciate each moment. That is what my youngest grandchildren have taught me. That is why I have enjoyed my fifties more than my forties, because through them I have seen the birds, the butterflies, stopped and thrown a ball over and over again, just so they can chase it and giggle because it keeps rolling across the freshly mowed grass. Despite my loneliness and tears, the moments add up very quickly and bring such joy. I think I would love this book, thanks for bringing it to my attention.

  4. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything with Prayer, AND THANKSGIVING, and supplication, let your requests be made known unto God!
And the Peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus! phil.4:6-7

    I love that precept!
Sounds like a pretty good book.

I'm going to Amazon to check it out! Pat

  6. Sounds like a very sweet book. We all should stop and smell the roses and be thankful for all we do have. I think somethings the wants are more than the needs.
