Southport, NC , a charming old town

photo IMG_5879.jpg This little town of Southport is great for walking around--lots of nice homey type homes built in the 1800's and early 1900's photo IMG_5878.jpg If you get a chance to visit do so!! photo IMG_5877.jpg You can catch a 30 minute ferry ride to Fort Fisher too! Below are some shots from the Fort area photo IMG_5876.jpg and photo IMG_5875.jpg and photo IMG_5874.jpg There are some interesting places to eat right on the water as well. We enjoyed Fishy Fishy http://www.fishyfishycafe.com

  2. I love a verandah on a house, our first home had one but none since. The houses are lovely and the fort looks like an interesting place to visit as well. It reminds me a bit of the remains of the Maori pa we have in New Zealand. They were also defensive fortifications against other tribes, often built on hills.
