The song above is called Dumb song and it makes me happy!! It got me dancing the other day and I kept on dancing for about 40 minutes. It made my calf muscles lame--even though I walk every day!!! It used a different set of muscles. Play a bit and see if you don't feel like DANCING!!!

I am thankful to be able to Dance like a little kid--just have to watch the grands if I ever forget how to do this!!

Monday morning catch up

Photobucket

Well here it is Monday already! I have to catch up on my thanksgiving. I think I most likely won't post everyday!!!  The picture above was taken this weekend. It was a gray weekend and Sunday was very rain filled. We needed the rain and it was nice to see it, but  I was thankful to remain mainly inside. I know a lot of folks in the country got the rain and some the snow!!

Photobucket
The rain brought in cooler temperatures. It was in the 30's last night and highs only in the 50's today. I am thankful in any weather for tea and I love chai tea---loving the spicey flavors in this tea. I am thankful for happy, sunny, cups such as this one.
Photobucket
I am thankful for learning again a few macrame knots--it is fun to do things with this and I hope to learn more in the future thanks to some links on youtube and pinterest. I am thankful for what working with your hands does to your spirit--it brings a calming soothing feel to your mind) I find this true with crochet as well (as long as one is doing something repetitious!). I like how our bodies are designed---that actions we do affect us inside as well. Have you ever thought about this? There is something relaxing and calming in sitting and doing a repetitive act and especially when it involves a little bit of creativeness. It frees the mind to meditate, or pray as well. It helps me to focus, to pray, to give thanks, etc. So again I give thanks for the way God has designed us. I am thankful that in worship as well we do not just use our minds, or our spirits/souls....but we use the physical as well.

Speaking of the physical in worship --here is a fun one below

Thanking Him for time to meditate and pray for others--blessing it is!
Thanking Him for the first cup of coffee in the morning-the boldness and the heat!

a Happy Valentine's day

Photobucket

I received these very happy Valentines from my daughter and her daughter---so much fun!!! I love hand made cards, don't you? I wonder what kind of chicken the feathers came from!? My magnets are covering a bit of them as they are on my frig.

Photobucket

We love chocolates and I find any kind of chocolate makes me very happy!! I love the colors of these valentine kind.
Photobucket
I made a card for my hubby out of a map of the area where we first met, married and lived. He loves maps and we had a blast sitting at the table eating supper and looking at the map and remembering all the places and what we had done. I am going to use this idea a lot in the future---I can print maps of places we have been etc. I got the idea from pinterest---they had cut the map in a heart shape....but I wanted more of the full thing. The picuture here is the card opened all the way up.Photobucket

So I give thanks for Valentine's Day and all the little fun treats and memories it brings. I give thanks for the love of family expressed in a tangible way. I give thanks for sweet memories.
Photobucket
I give thanks for a quiet time watching the sunset with a glass of wine with my hubby. And the beauty of trees!!

Feb 13 more praise

Photobucket

I am catching up from Sunday on my list of thanks.  It was a very cold windy day here in SC. So I thanked him for the clear skies and the bright sunshine. On cold days the warmth of sun streaming in the house is such a blessing. My husband and I sat and read in front of the window and it had a comforting glorious kind of feel to it. It is a blessing to have time to read, drink something hot, and sit in the warmth of the sun!

Photobucket
I have been reading this book (just a bit at a time). It is a relatively new one from 2009. What is  very good about this book is Joni has lived over 40 years now as a quadriplegic. She tells or traces through some of her life and tells what she would have spoken to herself now that she has aged and gained wisdom in her life.---she calls these things learned--rubies of His wisdom.
This book would be especially helpful for those going through any kind of suffering.
I give praise for the way God uses the suffering and encourages us in the suffering, and for his powerful Resurrection presence in our lives. I give thanks for people like Joni that share and teach us the things they have learned.

Photobucket
I give thanks for the many varieties of tea. I literally have a whole shelf full of different kinds in my cupboard, but I take some of my favorites and place them on the counter in my oriental cups. I see one needs refilling! I am so thankful for variety in life and the wonderful gift of taste.

 Photobucket
Last of all today I am thankful for these old, old bowls. They come from an old mixer I had growing up back in the 50's. I am not sure how old the set actually is....but I love their creamy milkyness--they make me smile ...I use them constantly and on Sunday I used them to make some oatmeal cake which is one of our favorite gluten free things to have. (I use Bob's gluten free oats--I just have to put them in the blender a bit if I want them to be quick oats for the recipe). The recipe can be found here:http://nannykimsrecipes.blogspot.com/search?q=oatmeal+cake  I prefer them with nothing on them or with just maple syrup. My hubby likes strawberries.
Photobucket
I am blessing God for his many and splendid gifts in this life--both great and small.

Mr. Northwind

Photobucket

There is a howling wind out here tonight in SC. It is blowing at time around 40 miles an hour and bring in cold cold weather for us. It will be around 20 in the morning. I am thankful that most of this winter it has been exceptionally warm with Spring like weather.

We had a glorious sunset tonight--very bright yellow topped by bright red---wish I had had my camera. I am thankful for changes in weather. Pretty glorious when you think about it. I am VERY thankful for a warm place to live.

I am thankful for warm clothing , warm, hats and gloves.....this makes me think of the poem by AA Milne called Happiness::

John had

John had a

And that --

My heart is bursting for the beauty of God and of life

God is just so beautiful I praise him for music. I praise him for ancient times and how he moved in men's hearts. I praise him for experiencing Him. I praise him for music and how it touches and moves us into worship.  This poem by St. Augustine spoke to me today---he was an unbeliever for so long and then came to know God. This poem touches on it.  If you play the music below on this post as you read it it will add to your experience!!!

This is a poem by St. Augustine---if you play the music below as you read the words it just adds something special!

Late have I loved you, O Beauty
ever ancient, ever new, late have
I loved You! You were within me,
but I was outside, and it was
there that I searched for You in
my unloveliness . I plunged into
the lovely things which You created
You were with me, but I was not
with You. Created things kept me
from You; yet, if they had not
been in You, they would not have
been at all.  You called, You shouted,
and You broke through my deafness
You flashed, You shone,
and You dispelled my blindness.
You breathed Your fragrance
on me; I drew in breath and now
I pant for You. I have tasted You,
now I hunger and thirst
for more  You touched me,
and I burned for Your peace.

praising God for another day

Photobucket
 For blessed memories of wonder

 of delight
Photobucket
of astonishment
Photobucket
of cuteness, I give thanks!

For gorgeous music to raise my heart in praise
and......
for a funny photographer we met today----
for the camaraderie in an exercise class
for a new craft
I praise God.

English Translation

O nata lux de lumine,
Jesu redemptor saeculi,
dignare clemens supplicum
laudes precesque sumere.
Qui carne quondam contegi
dignatus es pro perditis,
nos membra confer effici
tui beati corporis.
O Light born of Light,
Jesus, redeemer of the world,
with kindness deign to receive
the praise and prayer of suppliants.
You who once deigned to be clothed in flesh
for the sake of the lost,
grant us to be made members
of your blessed body.

Candlemas and thanksgiving

Photobucket

I failed to get my post in for thanksgiving or rather giving of thanks---. I may be late on some others this week as well! I will have to just play catch up--it is hard to post every day!

Yesterday was Candlemas day also known as The Presentation (of Jesus).  It celebrates the day that Mary and Joseph took the infant Jesus up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord . It is sometimes referred to as Candlemas because around the eleventh century, christians began blessing candles on this day,"which is the midpoint between the winter solstice and the spring equinox." Simion, upon seeing Jesus, proclaimed, "My eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in sight of all the peoples, a light of revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel." (Luke 2:30-32.  )  Christ is this Light---so the candles symbolize this light that was given to us.

I am so thankful for a day to reflect on and celebrate , Christ who is our light. I am thankful for days of celebration, days of beauty, days that take us back into the richness of history. I praise God for his revealing himself to us.

Speaking of celebrations:

We are getting ready to celebrate my youngest grandson's birthday this weekend. He turned one, and this monkey is for him.

Photobucket
I am thankful for Corwin's sweetness, for his delight in life, for his sweet laughs, and his exuberant joy. My desire is to live in many respects as this grandchild does!   Hope you all are full of thanks and you can join in anytime--the link is on the sidebar--it is a year of giving thanks--called one thousand gifts.  Thanking him for music and its beauty too!

Feb 1, 2012 thanks RED Lamp shade

Photobucket

There is something about a red lamp shade and its warm glow that just plain ole makes me happy!!  I love the warmth of red and the happiness. It makes me feel cozy all over. I can't be sad when I am confronted with red.  So this is what I start my thanks with today.
